The Cochlear implant is a device that directly stimulates ganglion cells bypassing the Corti organ in the inner ear where hearing loss may occur due to damage or agenesis of the inner ear. This study, though literature reviews, aims to raise awareness of the increasing use of the Cochlear impant (bionic ear) in patients with severe hearing loss and, particularly, in new-born patients with congenital hearing loss.
