Healthy Life Style Behaviours and Related Influencing Factors of The Students of Vocational School of Health Services

Objectives: This research was performed to determine healthy lifestyle behaviors of university students as a descriptive study.

Patients and Methods: The universe of this research was constituted by the students (N=480) of Mehmet Akif Ersoy Üniversity Gölhisar Vocational School of Health Services and Nişantaşı University Vocational School of Health Services between 2012-2013 academic education term. A survey sheet rating students' demographic socio-cultural characteristics and The Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors Scale II (HLSBsII) have been used and research data was collected by face-to-face application of survey by a researcher. The data was assessed in computer with the percentage, Kruskal-Wallis ve Mann-Whitney U tests.

Results: As a result of the research, Mean HLSB II Scale score of the students was estimated to be 127.05±20.35 points. Of female students subscales health responsibility, nutrition, and stress management median score was statistically significantly higher than males (p <0.01); the higher the educational level of the parents was, the higher the students' health responsibility who had any hobbies and exercised regularly found to increase students' health responsibility, with any hobby, methods of coping with stress that they knew who exercise regularly and healthy lifestyle behaviors of the students were found to be statistically significantly higher (p<0,01).

Conclusion: As a result of the research;education programs should be to protect and promote the health of students. Keywords : students, healthy lifestyle behaviors, lifestyle
